Abstract :
This paper illustrates the study and the competent comparison of a new Hata path loss model through a method of optimization and calibration in order to use the outcome for the prediction of DVB-T2 broadcasting in an urban area of Suratthani Province, the southern Thailand. The research data were from the measurement of the broadcasting signal within two stations; CH40, the frequency of 626 MHz and CH44, the frequency of 658 MHz where the distance of the transmitted station is 2-7 kilometers. The optimized path loss model is the least square method and the calibrated model is the statistical value of root mean square error (RMSE) and mean error (ME) whereas an indication of the model competent comparison is through the use of relative error (RE). The analytical value of RMSE and RE of the new Hata path loss model obtained from the calibrated method with ME value shows the RMSE and RE values lower than the calibrated model with RMSE and the optimized method. The calibrated method of ME value is therefore more suitable for creating a predicted model aimed to be more accurate in planning the network design.
