Abstract :
This work focuses on reduction of power consumption of transmitters in FM community radio broadcasting. A Class -E power amplifier has been designed by load-pull wideband Class-E technique based on load admittance synthesis. An LDMOS transistor was utilized to provide up to 76 W output power and 82-85 % drain efficiency, over 20.41% fractional bandwidth of FM radio frequencies (88-108 MHz) with 12.81 dB gain and 27.13 dB second harmonic suppression in the best case. The amplifier can replace typical Class-C power amplifier used in FM radio broadcasting stations providing higher efficiency, reduced heat dissipation, smaller size and lower cost.
