Abstract :
This paper presents a compact step-slot antenna with band-notched characteristics for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications. The step-slot etched on the ground plane plays important role in the impedance matching for the higher frequency range of the UWB spectrum. The band-notched characteristic is achieved by introducing the inverted-U slot into the rectangular stub. The proposed antenna has a compact size with the dimensions of 20×26×1.6 mm3 while operating in frequency band of 3.1-10.6 GHz and avoiding the interference with the WLAN band of 5.15-5.825 GHz. The simulated results of the proposed antenna are compared with the measured results, which are in good agreement.
