Abstract :
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is an application technology of practicality and flexibility. It is small in size but enjoys a large memory space. It is also reusable and can do the scanning within a short time. RFID now enjoys a wider usage due to its simplicity, easy operation, and suitability in automatic operation. Many organizations have devoted themselves on the standardization of RFID. There is no doubt that RFID will be widely used in every profession in the near future. This paper provides a brief survey on RFID applications in vehicle networks and gives detailed introductions of various RFID-based systems, which play different roles in vehicle networks such as vehicle management in communities, detection of vehicle theft and speeding violations, and reminders of road conditions. This paper also compares all systems covered and proposes a more comprehensive RFID-based system on managing and operating vehicle networks.
