  • Abstract
A Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) is commonly considered as a special type of a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) with its own challenges and requirements. So in many WBAN applications, the method or communication protocol of WSN is used directly. But it is usually incorrect in practice. Comparing with WSN, the devices in WBAN are different with each other on many aspects, such as hardware performance and collection frequency, so some theory of WSN based on homogeneous network is unsuitable. On the same time, the topology of WBAN changes constantly and the characters of minimum delay, maximum throughput, maximum network lifetime are also more emphasized than WSN. So a new mechanism called based on time slots and sleep scheduling DSR (BTSASS-DSR) is argued in this paper. The core idea of our improved DSR is adding deterministic scheduling realization and deep sleeping mechanism on traditional DSR. The theory and specific steps of how to realize BTSASS-DSR is given too. On the other hand, in the perspective of nonlinear math model of battery discharge, it is also proved that the BTSASS-DSR is more energy-saving than DSR.
