Abstract :
Objective: This study aims to apply closed Non-interactive Literature-Based Knowledge Discovery into the field of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to excavate the invisible connection between non-interactive documents and probe into possible hazard factors of the diagnosis and treatment of TCM on Diabetic Retinopathy, thus to offer references for scientific research and clinical scientists. Methods: Non-interactive Literature-Based Knowledge Discovery, a kind of unique informatics method proposed by DR. Swanson from the U. S., consists of two processes, namely, open knowledge discovery process and closed knowledge discovery process. The closed process are mainly used in the research fields, such as the prediction of drug side effects, the confirmation of the regulation and proxy mechanism of cell biological response, the proposition of new treatment plan and so on. Arrowsmith software system, the online edition of Swanson´s knowledge discovery instrument applied in this study is right the closed knowledge discovery process. Results: Reading the contents of Document Set A and Document Set C in Arrowsmith software system, some of document sets of Cordycepssinensis and some of document sets of Diabetic Retinopathy are found to exist come connection by Protein Kinase C, i.e., Cordycepssinensis Protein- Kinase C-Diabetic Retinopathy. Conclusion: A conclusion that Cordycepssinensis may cause or aggravate Diabetic Retinopathy and diabetic macular edema was drawn from in-depth research on the action mechanism of Diabetic Retinopathy.
