Abstract :
The High Intake Defined EXcitation-2 (HIDEX-2) bathyphotometer is the US Navy standard for obtaining vertical profiles of bioluminescent plankton distributions. The new Over-The-Side Bathyphotometer (OTiS) is a pumped system that stimulates bioluminescence via a constriction of the flow and measures light emission using a photomultiplier tube (PMT). The performance of the OTiS bathyphotometer was examined in relation to the HIDEX-2 bathyphotometer. Results indicate that a linear relationship exists between the two systems
