  • Abstract
A new emergency load shedding algorithm is proposed in this paper based on the state plane representation of generator speed and power angle. When the trajectory of the power system stays in concave regions, the system is stable. When the trajectory crosses though the convex regions, the system is detected as unstable state. Based on the characteristic of the trajectory, a load shedding algorithm is proposed in this paper when active power is insufficient in receiving end. The proposed method was successfully tested in a single machine infinite bus system.
