  • Abstract
Insulator contamination is an important technical problem because contamination-caused insulator flashovers may cause great damage to power system. Dust, waste, condensation and so on give rise to serious influence to flashover accident. In order to investigate the contamination distribution law of typical transmission line insulators, artificial contamination test is carried out and equivalent salt deposit density (ESDD) is measured under different conditions in pollution cycle device. The influence of different wind speed, wind direction, number of pieces is investigated to find the rules, which enables us to better understand the contamination conditions of the insulators and take effective measures to prevent the pollution flashover accidents.
