  • Abstract
Up to June 2015, the total wind and PV capacity of Jiangsu has amounted to 6600 megawatts, which is expected to increase to 20000 megawatts in 2020. Due to the intermittency and randomness of renewable power, the reserve capacity and regulation ability of conventional generator appear to be insufficient for Jiangsu power grid with the increasing penetration level of renewable power. For the purpose of seeking for the appropriate solutions for peak regulation, methods for enhancing the regulation ability of Jiangsu power grid including inter-province tie-line control, constructing rapid regulation power sources, exploiting the existing conventional generators potential and optimizing unit commitment by wind power forecast are investigated. Meanwhile, the comparison of renewable power grid-integration of Jiangsu and Germany are analyzed, and some experiences in the peak regulation of Germany are presented, which may be useful for Jiangsu power grid.
