Abstract
Discrete wavelet multitone (DWMT) transceiver was proposed to overcome the problems posed by discrete multitone (DMT) transceiver. DWMT based transceiver has been suggested for digital subscriber loop (xDSL) systems where crosstalk and impulse noise are the main channel impairments. Modeling of impulse noise is not easy because of its random nature. In this paper, we have discussed all statistical parameters that are required to model the impulse noise necessary for xDSL channel with DWMT transceiver. Overlap frequency division multiplexing (FDE) that has already proposed for DWMT transceiver is applied to equalize the signal. Different trends of bit error rate (BER) for DWMT based transceiver with overlap FDE are also observed with different values of impulse noise index and impulse noise variance. It is concluded that increase in impulse noise density degrades the system´s performance.
