Abstract :
Unwanted vibrations have a serious, adverse impact on the performance of most of the control systems. Active vibration control of structures using smart materials is especially in vogue. This involves sensing the motion of the system using sensors, generating a control signal using a controller and applying a control force on the system using actuators. Two types of controllers, PID controller tuned by neural network and a LQR controller are implemented for suppressing vibrations and its performances are being compared.
