Abstract :
Inverter fed induction motors are widely preferred in industrial areas. Fault free operation of the machine is the key factor for the proper working of the induction motor drive system without degrading the performance. It demands careful analysis of different types of faults that can occur in the machine part. In this, broken rotor bar fault is the main one. The data obtained from analyzing the different broken bar conditions can be used for developing the fault detection algorithm. This is essential for the online monitoring of the system. Earlier the fault is detected, easier will be the repairing process. The aim of this paper is to design a fuzzy logic fault detection algorithm for detecting and analyzing the rotor faults in a three phase induction motor drive system.
