Abstract :
A noninvasive wrist worn blood pressure (NIBP) monitoring system is developed and discussed in this paper intended for low cost community health care applications based on android platform. This system includes real time continuous collection of physiological parameters (blood pressure, pulse rate) of a patient and wireless transmission to a tablet PC which can be monitored for diagnosis by a medical practitioner. A reliable wireless personal area network like bluetooth has been used for data transmission. The hardware design of this system includes blood pressure sensors, PIC microcontroller, bluetooth module and a tablet PC. The system will generate and send warning messages to the doctor/care giver, when the sensor values exceed the permissible range.
