Abstract :
The lightning overvoltage is one of important parameter in designing the insulation of transmission line and power apparatus. Usually the influence of the impulse corona is ignored in numerical analysis of electromagnetic transients in power systems. This paper presents a corona model on an HV transmission line under the influence of lightning strike and impulse voltage. This model shows two main developments in the modeling of power transmission line for the simulation of electric network. The first one is a wide bandwidth circuit corona model and the second a phase-domain multiphase full frequency-dependent line model. Both models have been developed in the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP-RV). At the end of this paper, effects of skin effect and radius conductor on lightning overvoltage are considered.
