Abstract
Sperm quality can be measured by sperm count, vitality, morphology, motility, etc. Unfortunately, it is very hard to assess sperm quality manually especially sperm motility. To overcome this, researchers developed Computer-Aided Sperm Analysis (CASA). This device was still an expensive one so that only big medical laboratories used it. Small medical laboratories were still using manual assessment. Therefore, it was needed an alternative CASA system that can be built with low cost and gives a satisfying result. In this paper, we proposed a method to measure sperm motility automatically from a video taken from multimedia microscope using three CASA parameters which were VCL, VSL, and LIN. The experiment results showed that the proposed method achieved average percentage difference 7.0% compared to manual assessment by medical laboratory technician.
