Abstract :
As one of the most populous country in the world, Indonesia face many challenging issues on mass transportation. Transportation become one factor of the rapidly growing urbanization and traffic congestion in this country. In many big cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Medan, Surabaya and Makassar, the issue has become more important. The challenging idea of making indicators to benchmarking smartness of the transportation in big cities has attracted much attention in recent times. Numerous studies had performed to measure and evaluate the performance level of transportation system in various cities across the world. However, even though there is urgent needs of performing city transportation evaluation, no relevant comprehensive studies that measure and evaluate the performance of smartness city transportation in Indonesia. In this paper, we proposed the evaluation and bench marking study of those big cities. The proposed methodology was illustrated using a set of data collected from 5 big cities in Indonesia through web search and local government agency. The key value of the proposed framework located in a comparative analysis among cities. The benchmark measures 60 indicators obtained from a systematic process of extensive literature survey and secondary sources. It should be noted that the value of this benchmark may change over time as the emergence of new technologies could create new dimensions of the developing urban transportation systems. This study is based on literature and were not measured directly. The indicators may be enriched and extended to match the changing societal needs.
