Abstract :
This paper proposes application of three-phase boost inverter for harmonic and reactive power compensation at the point of common coupling (PCC). A three-phase boost inverter is a combination of three symmetrical parameter boost converters connected in cascade. A DC link voltage control approach with a phase locked loop system is used to generate the synchronized reference voltage for the boost converter. Here, a double loop control approach with inner loop as feedback linearization control is used to track the reference voltage across the output capacitor of each boost converter. Using the synchronized waveform, a reference unit vector is generated. By converting the reference voltage to unit vector, amount of harmonic contents in the load current is measured. The boost inverter injects desired amount of current to the PCC to make the main grid supply current as pure sinusoidal. The performance of the proposed system is verified using MATLAB/SIMULINK.
