Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel control technique for the DSTATCOM. The DSTATCOM in this paper is connected to a distribution system with a DFIG based wind farm acting as a source. The DFIG here is considered to be operating in islanding mode. There are a large number of DSTATCOM controllers proposed. In this paper a novel optimised Icosφ controller is proposed to reduce the THD level. The controller consists of two PI blocks. The Kp and Ki values of the two PI blocks has been optimised using Particle Swarm Optimization. The detailed model has been simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results are given. It is observed that the optimised Icosf controller diminishes the THD level to a large extent.
