Abstract
The paper deals with the possible use of multiobjective methodologies in order to improve the security and reliability of power systems during the short term planning and the operation stage. In particular, after the determination of the Pareto set of non inferior solutions, some different methodologies are available in order to make the ultimate choice and to determine the final operating point for the system. This paper presents a short review of these methodologies and proposes for the decision maker an approach based on the trade off analysis to improve the choice of the best solution. The tests and the results are relevant to a 63 buses CIGRE test system and show how the decision maker can exploit the features of the proposed methodologies, even in a deregulated environment.
