Abstract
This paper presents combination of inductive feedback and shunt peaking techniques as a technique (IF+SHP) for Bandwidth extension of Transimpedance Amplifiers. This new technique will reduce the effect of capacitances of the MOS transistor and photodiode capacitance. The zero pole analysis shows the technique is promising for the purpose of bandwidth extension. The feasibility of the method has been confirmed in a well-known CMOS technology (i.e. 90nm STMicroelectronics). The amplifiers achieve 3-dB bandwidths of more than 50GHz in presence of 50fF photodiode capacitance and 5fF loading capacitance.
