Abstract :
This paper presents a wireless sensor network model for water quality monitoring. The network´s topology is a modified mesh topology designed to be deployed along a lakeshore. The proposed model includes a dynamic routing table and an energy-aware protocol, which make the network scalable and extend its lifetime. Extensive simulations were carried out using OMNeT++. The proposed protocol doubles the lifetime compared to the conventional implementation. In addition, the scalability and the dynamic routing have been tested in different scenarios to illustrate the improvements.
