Abstract :
This paper discuses the design and simulation of a 40 kVA Power Conditioning System (PCS) for defence applications. The above simulation is a based on double conversion technique. This solid state power converter employing IGBT assisted double power conversion technique. The output of PCS produces electrical power which in turn can be used to power various mobile on board applications such as electronics control units, communication equipments, servo drive units, radars, electrical drives, mission critical applications such as command, control, communication, computer, information, intelligence (C4I2), various launching platform etc. which requires high density, ultra compact power supply system. In this paper, aspects pertaining to concept, design considerations, simulations and various iterations have been carried out and results are presented. The several design aspects and number of iterations have been carried out to achieve optimum results. Key performance, electrical parameters are verified based on the simulation results using CASPOC simulation software.
