Back to back connected VSI fed induction machine supplying isolated loads

This paper presents a comprehensive investigation of back to back connected VSI fed Induction generator used in Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS). Back to back Connected VSI is utilized to convert variable voltage and frequency output of Squirrel Cage Induction Generator (SCIG) to constant voltage and frequency. The machine side converter is operated in two modes i.e. DC link voltage build up mode and DC link voltage regulation mode. The indirect rotor flux control scheme is used for control of this converter to maintain constant DC link voltage. Then the constant DC link voltage is converted to constant AC voltage and frequency using a load side inverter.
