Abstract :
An equivalent circuit model of a synchronous generator with simultaneous AC and rectified DC load is presented in this paper. By use of the principle of harmonic balance, which makes it possible to construct a state-space mathematical model of this system the criterion of operation stability is derived for the system under small disturbance. It is shown that the AC load is favorable for improving the system stability and the generator parameters have considerable effects on the system stability. The analytical results are compared with those obtained by simulation and experiment, and good agreements are observed
