Abstract :
Electrical Distribution system overloading is a complex decision making problem due to which the system security could be compromised. ACO approach is introduced to relieve the system from the overloading which works on the basis of the system power losses. Ant Colony Optimization works on the behavior of natural ants. The basic nature of ants to find the shortest route to food source based on the pheromone intensity is used to find the optimal solution for the distribution feeder overloading problem. This shortest path finding lead to the minimum switching operation & hence less time taken to relieve the system from overloading. IEEE 30 bus system is designed in MI-Power software & corresponding ACO programming is done in C-language to solve the distribution feeder overloading.
