  • Abstract
Eastern Regional(ER) grid of India is one of the five regional grid consisting of voltage level 765kV, 400 kV, 220 kV and numerous buses at lower voltage range. Eastern Regional Grid is connected to North Eastern Regional Grid, Southern Grid, Northern Grid and Western Grid. Further, there are various HVDC lines or back to back systems which all together form the network of Eastern Grid. Depending on voltage level ER grid comprises of many bus. The system has been studied using 205 buses of voltage levels 220 kV and above and transmission lines running over a length of 23693 km. The paper studies the power flow simulation analysis of Eastern Grid of India with and without HVDC links using Power System Simulators for Engineering (PSS®E). Further, Simulations have also been performed for various kinds of faults as per IEC 60909 standard.
