Abstract
Recent experimental demonstration of Perovskite/Si tandem cell has created new possibilities for next generation low cost and high efficiency solar cells. Proper theoretical analysis is required to get optimized performance from such cells. In this paper, we present a theoretical modeling framework for monolithic two terminal Perovskite/Si tandem solar cells. The model for each cell is chosen such that the effects of front and back surface field layers, diffusivity, junction potential and absorber thickness are explicitly incorporated based on fundamental semiconductor physics. Four types of perovskite configurations, namely p-i-n, n-i-p, p-p-n and n-p-p, are analyzed. We also find the optimized surface recombination velocities for current matching condition and/or efficient operation. We show that the efficiency of the tandem cell could be significantly increased by changing the properties of transport layers of each sub-cell.
