Abstract
Interaction of P-polarized femtosecond laser pulses at 8/spl times/10/sup 15/ W/cm/sup 2/ with metallic and dielectric targets are studied. Smaller laser absorption and fewer emitted electrons and lower hot electron temperature in dielectric target than that in metallic targets are found.
