Abstract :
Offshore wind power cable usually burned deep in the sea bottom, accurate fault detection and location is very difficult. The fault occurred in transmission cable lines usually affect the normal operation of the wind farm. Higher accuracy fault detection and location usually means easier to control the damages and faster to restore the service. Power cable usually use traveling wave based fault location methods, correct identification of reflected wave and accurate determination of traveling wave velocity is essential to traveling wave based fault location. This paper gives the criterion of fault type judgment and come up with a new fault location algorithm based on single end measurement, solving the problem of travelling wave identification and second reverses wave identification. The algorithm is also insensitive to the velocity of wave propagation. ATP-EMTP simulation results show that the fault location algorithm is not only feasible but also has higher accuracy.
