Abstract :
Wind speed sensorless control methods for wind turbine maximum power point tracking are beneficial as they do not require knowledge of wind speed or wind turbine characteristics. In this paper, an advanced hybrid hill climb searching (HCS) algorithm is proposed via combining the conventional HCS and power signal feedback (PSF) control with a novel algorithm to judge the wind speed variation direction. During the period that the wind speed is judged constant, the controller optimizes the parameter of the power curve. The proposed method is verified in simulation on a permanent magnetic synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind turbine. Simulation results show that this algorithm has better performance in tracking the maximum power coefficient than the conventional algorithms, particularly in variable wind speed.
