Abstract :
Visible light communication (VLC) is regarded as an emerging wireless access technology that has tremendous potential for 5G. However, the link of VLC is vulnerable to blockage of moving objects within the room. Moreover, the link data rate of VLC falls sharply with link distance increasing. Therefore, VLC needs to constitute networks with other wireless technologies, such as WiFi, WiMAX, 2G/3G and LTE, etc. Considering an indoor scenario, this paper proposes a heterogeneous network model of a hybrid VLC and LTE system. On this basis, a joint resources management strategy water-filling-iteration-extremum (WFIE) is developed by thinking over characteristics of VLC physical layer. WFIE firstly selects the best network by detecting channel condition in heterogeneous network. Then WFIE uses water-filling algorithms to allocate power and takes extremal method to allocate frequency. Simulation proves that our scheme improves the throughput of system compared with conventional method, besides taking into account the quality of service and fairness.
