Abstract :
The scaled down laboratory model of the modelled line using air-core inductor and shunt capacitor has been practically designed, experimented and its performance parameters are evaluated. The protection scheme using three-step zone protection is achieved using a relay operated by an ARM Microcontroller. The Microcontroller is used as a controller which actuates the relay. This paper has been done to detect LG fault condition. The relay is so programmed that it works only when the fault occurs in within the zone and does not affect the transmission line if fault occurs outside. The ARM Microcontroller used for actuating the relay is STM 32-F4, which is programmed using IAS Embedded Workbench.
