            Abstract :
This paper presents a numerical solution of vibration analysis in electric generator, in particular to Flux Reversal Generator (FRG). A three-dimensional finite-element analysis methodology is used. The analysis reports in this paper cover the major vibration sources: mechanical, magnetic, and unbalanced rotor. The following analysis is presented. (i) A 3-D modal analysis, including stator and rotor geometries, shaft, end shields, bearings, and housing to find the natural frequencies. (ii) A harmonic analysis to identify the range of speeds, producing high vibration and noise. Apart from frequently reported modal analysis on electrical machine in three dimensions, this 3-D vibration analysis for FRG will be helpful to examine the vibration in the machine as a whole.
