Abstract :
Compact and multiband antennas are effectively demanded in wireless handheld devices for multiband operations. The design of multiband Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) for mobile handheld or portable devices applications is presented in this paper. The designed antenna comprises of a rectangular planar element placed above the Rogers Duroid 5880 substrate. The ground plane resides at the bottom side of the substrate. The ground plane dimension is 37×35 mm2 which makes it a very compact antenna. The antenna provides a multiband operation for covering the DCS1800 UL band (1.70 GHz), 4G LTE (2.3 GHz), WiBRO (2.35 GHz), Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 802.11g (2.4 GHz), m-WiMAX (2.5 GHz), WiMAX (3.5 GHz) and Wi-Fi 802.11a (5.2 GHz) communication standards. The proposed antenna is simulated & fabricated. The simulated and fabricated results are in good agreement with each other.
