Abstract :
This paper presents an advanced mathematical tool for analyzing the electromagnetic transients associated with power electronics system faults and disturbances. Disturbances that are nonperiodic require a more powerful mathematical technique than MoM, FEM, and AWE. In this paper, the authors propose the use of a time-frequency multi-resolution wavelet analysis of electromagnetic interference (EMI). The wavelet transform translated the time-domain function into a representation localized not only in frequency but also in time. As a consequence, the simulation methodologies in the paper are useful for EMI diagnosis and transient fault detection. Testing results show the feasibility and effectiveness for the application
