Abstract :
Based on the diode-based bridge type superconducting fault current limiters (SFCL) and the SCR-based bridge type SFCLs, a fully controlled hybrid bridge type SFCL without bias power supply and using fast-response power electronic switches IGBT is presented. By controlling the IGBTs, the current limiter circuit will have different state to limit fault currents. Compared to the traditional bridge type SFCLs, the fully controlled hybrid bridge type SFCL mainly shortens the response time to suit various power system applications. In this paper, the simulation model is established using Matlab/Simulink. Then, the current characteristic with different inductances and phase angles of both transient and steady state are analyzed.
