Abstract :
A type of co-axial DC (Direct current) HTS (high temperature superconducting) cable with self-shielding characteristics large current capacity was proposed. Based on its configuration, the critical current distribution is thus obtained by detailed analysis on magnetic field distribution with different transport current. The analysis shows that this interleaved kind of cable has higher critical current and more compact structure than the existing cable when transmitting large amount of DC current, since there is little magnetic field in the outer space. Additionally this type of cable has functions of two existing structure cables so that it saves more superconducting tapes than the two conventional ones.
