Abstract :
The magnetic-valve controllable reactor (MCR) has been applied practically in the dynamic reactive power compensation of power system. However, the application range of MCR is limited by its relatively slow response rate. Using the structure characteristics and magnetic flux distribution of MCR, an improvement of the quickness for MCR is proposed in this paper. The relationship between the estimated transition time and the structure of improvement is considered by developing and analyzing the mathematical model of the process for the magnetization and demagnetization. Furthermore, a simulation model of this improvement is established in the MATLAB/SimPowerSystems. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis and the presented improvement of the quickness for MCR.
