Abstract :
In this paper, a new primary HTS linear motor for transportation system is proposed. The key of this structure is to have HTS field windings and armature windings all on the short mover, while the long stator is only made of segment iron. The air gap flux density can be regulated by changing the HTS excitation current, so it can offer flexible electromagnetic force. This is helpful to extend the motor speed range and improve the system efficiency at different loads and speeds. The finite element analysis (FEA) results validate the claims.
