Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel flux-modulated permanent magnet(PM) linear generator with sandwiched armature stator, which can achieve high thrust force density and fast response for free-piston energy converter. First, operating principle of the proposed tubular linear generator is discussed. And then influences of key design parameters of sandwiched armature on electromagnetic performances are analyzed by analytical and time-stepping finite element method (FEM). The FEM calculated results are consistent with those obtained theoretically.
