Abstract :
In the LTE-A systems with carrier aggregation, user equipment in different location can aggregate a different number of component carriers because the component carrier in different frequency band provides different coverage. This paper takes such issue into consideration and focuses on the radio resource allocation in the downlink of LTE-A systems. A user grouping-based component carrier selection and proportional fair scheduling (UGCCS-PF) algorithm is proposed to balance the load among component carriers while maintaining a throughput fairness performance. System level simulations show that the proposed algorithm has the best fairness and coverage performance among the three evaluated algorithms.
