Abstract
A light-weighted and electrically large-sized multi-beam cylindrical dielectric lens antenna is presented in this paper. The lens antenna is fed by an arc array with 10 E-shaped patch antennas. The cylindrical lens is made of foam plastics with a dielectric constant of 1.1, and composed of three layers. A lot of holes are loaded in each layer of the foam plastics, and the holes are filled with nylon with a dielectric constant of 5.5. Simulation results show that the antenna can produce 10 narrow beams and the crossover of two adjacent beams occurs at the -3-dB level. The beams cover a wide scan angle of 120° in the azimuth range and the 3-dB beamwidth in the elevation plane is more than 70°.
