Abstract :
In this paper, the authors design and fabricate a folded meander-line and multilayered dielectric chip antenna for surface-mount, which can be used in the wireless unit of a Bluetooth system (2.4 ∼ 2.49 GHz). The structure of the antenna is a folded meander-line which is made up of conductor-line of 0.7 mm width that zigzags on the surface of dielectric chip whose size is 6 mm × 10.2 mm × 1.26 mm(t), ε r is 7. In this paper, the authors focused on the following; first, the analysis of impedance variation trend due to variation of line-pitch angles and circuit ground sizes in both simulation and measurement. This is needed for impedance matching. Second is the theoretical radiation pattern calculated from current distribution on a conductor line and a comparison of this with simulation and measurement. As a result, the return loss is -36.3dB, -10 dB bandwidth at 2.45 GHz center frequency is 363 MHz (14.8%) on the conditions of 26.26° of pitch angle and 25 mm × 40 mm × 0.8 mm(t) mount size.
