Abstract :
This paper presents the development of power capability limits of the squirrel cage asynchronous generator (SCAG) integrated in the wind energy conversion system (WECS) and connected to the power network through a RL filter. The reactive power capability is developed in order to limit the active and reactive power imposed by the operator and the reactive power required to maintain the grid voltage when a voltage dip occurs in the grid. These limits have been obtained by taking into account the maximum current of the stator and rotor of the machine, the stator voltage, the maximum current and voltage of the filter and the steady state stability limit of the generator.
