Abstract :
This paper considers the sparse array design problem for unambiguous Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation. We propose a new design criteria, where the locations of the array element are assumed to be the optimization variables, and the sum of the peak sidelobe level (PSL) when the mainlobe located at all directions is employed as the objective function. Second, Pattern Search (PS) algorithm is exploited to solve the above non-linear optimization problem. Finally, we evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm via several numerical simulations.
