Abstract :
We present an improved log-periodic antenna structure to improve the energy transmission efficiency between antenna and diode mixer. In terahertz imaging system, the antenna and diode mixer is monolithic integrated on the same substrate because of small size. In this paper, a terahertz planar log-periodic antenna is designed at 350GHz on a GaAs substrate with thickness of 100um. Optimum impedance matching is implemented based on finite element method(FEM) to enable maximum energy transmission. Compared to the initial antenna structure, the improved impedance matching structure has a wider bandwidth as well as smaller return loss in the range of 325GHz to 370GHz according to the simulation results.
