Abstract :
This paper deals with the simulation of a vector controlled three phase rectifier designed to give UPF operation. A brief review of different control strategies are also given. The main issue with the use of conventional bridge rectifiers/controlled rectifiers is the injection of unwanted harmonics into the gird. The input current will be highly distorted and out of phase. Due to various harmonic standards which put limits on the amount of harmonics and current ripple in the source current, the bridge type rectifiers are being replaced by improved power quality converters which satisfy the standards. The three phase rectifier implemented in this work is characterized by its input current being almost sinusoidal, reduced current ripple, controllable DC output voltage and UPF operation. Synchronous reference frame control strategy is opted and simulations are done for both linear current control and hysteresis current control strategy. The PLL is realized using software PLL in synchronous reference frame.
