Abstract :
Over the years, after conducting examinations, there comes a crucial task of paper checking and evaluation which has to be done precisely, in time and even-handed. Although this process has been computerized for multiple choice questions; for long answers, it still has to be done manually. Furthermore, with addition of new courses, there is a need of new model answers to the wide range of questions being asked. To address aforementioned issues effectually, this paper presents an approach which allows users to interact with paper documents, books and answer sheets etc. and to evaluate performance based on keywords harmonized with a predefined adaptive database, by using electronic devices like Desktops, Laptops, Xerox machines, Mobile phones and Tablet Computers. The application would consist of query terms, error-grams, and correction rules to create search-able keywords to be matched with text processed from documents. Time taken for the whole process and the manpower required for paper checking will reduce radically as well as. Moreover, mobile phone cameras now are widely being used as scanners. As demand flourish for mobile phone applications, the research developed for scanned documents, is shifting focus to text recognition embedded in digital photographs.
