Abstract :
The objective of this paper is to disseminate the overall results available from the LEGAL-IST project. The benefit for the users (IST/ICT research community, SMEs, Industry) is to increase the level of awareness about the potential legal risks associated to the deployment of new technologies and business models in the IST domain. Legal issue studies contain practical information (especially for SMEs), legal tools (templates), reference to existing business cases and Best Practices, with a view of bridging the gap between the IST/ICT research community, mainly formed by people with engineering background, and lawyers. Additional information about the results available from the LEGAL-IST project can be found on the project website at http://www.legalist. org, in particular in terms of legal support to SMEs and IST-related projects and available training packages. Papers, conference proceedings, public deliverables, executive summaries are available for free downloading and can be used by practitioners in the IST/ICT domain to perform a preliminary assessment of the potential legal risks associated to their research and implementation initiatives.
